WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the U.S. government shutdown enters its tenth day, House Speaker Mike Johnson has revealed that Democrats plan to keep federal offices closed until after a radical “No Kings” protest scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. The shutdown, which shows no signs of ending, is being blamed by Republicans on Democrats’ refusal to reopen the government until their far-left base is appeased.
Real People, Real Harm
Speaking on Fox News’ Fox and Friends, Johnson expressed outrage at the Democrats’ apparent priorities. “I have had it with these people,” Johnson said. “They’re playing games with real people’s lives.”
Federal workers are going without pay. Critical services are delayed. FEMA cannot issue flood insurance policies in the middle of hurricane season. Nutrition programs for young mothers and children are disrupted. Johnson listed the consequences:
“It’s health services, it’s nutrition services for young mothers and infant children… all manner of services that are provided. And we’re so angry about it.”
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has openly celebrated the shutdown, reportedly saying, “every day gets better for us,” underscoring the political gamesmanship at the heart of the crisis.
Shutdown Coordinated With Radical Left
According to Johnson, Democrats are aligning with radical-left organizations in advance of the October 18 “No Kings” rally, which he described as a hate-America demonstration attracting Antifa members and pro-Hamas activists. Shockingly, some House Democrats are even selling event merchandise.
Axios reported that Schumer’s office established a private “shutdown war room” with progressive activists, unions, and leftist operatives, including MoveOn and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, to coordinate messaging and strategy. Talking points and campaign-style materials were distributed weeks in advance, ensuring the shutdown serves as a rallying point for far-left voters.
“It’s being told to us that they won’t be able to reopen the government until after that rally because they can’t face their rabid base,” Johnson said.
Taxpayer Bill: $1.5 Trillion in Demands
House Democrats are reportedly demanding $1.5 trillion in additional spending, including continued funding for leftist media outlets like PBS, taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants, and other radical spending priorities. The combination of shutdown leverage and political theater is taking a direct toll on everyday Americans—workers, families, and veterans.
Johnson warned, “This is serious business hurting real people… I can’t believe they’re actually doing this.”

The orchestrated shutdown and alliance with radical leftist groups reveal a deeper pattern in Washington: the politicization of government as a weapon against the public good. Psalm 82:3-4 comes to mind:
