A disturbing new music video is igniting outrage after a band associated with The Satanic Temple staged what it describes as a “religious abortion ritual” inside a Hobby Lobby bathroom.
The video, released Wednesday by Satanic Planet, features Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves and accompanies the song “Sam Alito’s Mom.” The song is connected to an abortion project of the same name operated by The Satanic Temple.
The production doesn’t merely portray abortion.
It deliberately places the ritual inside a Christian-owned business and concludes with images of Christian merchandise engulfed in flames.
A “RITUAL” INSIDE A HOBBY LOBBY
According to The Christian Post, the video follows a woman identified as Martina Rinaldi entering a Hobby Lobby women’s restroom while heavy metal music plays.
The video presents the abortion as a religious ceremony, describing it as a “destruction ritual” and “protective rite.”
Its stated purpose is to remove guilt associated with abortion and empower participants against what the video calls “theocratic religious convictions.”
The production then depicts the woman following the Temple’s ritual instructions, including looking into a mirror and affirming her own will before taking abortion medication.
The ritual concludes with the statement:
“By my body, my blood, by my will, it is done.”
The symbolism is unmistakable.
The video is deliberately using religious language and imagery to frame abortion as a ritualistic act of personal autonomy.
CHRISTIAN IMAGERY GOES UP IN FLAMES
The video’s most overtly confrontational moment comes afterward.
Christian-themed merchandise sold by Hobby Lobby is shown burning.
Among the items depicted are:
- An image of Jesus with children
- Scripture plaques
- A “One Nation Under God” sign
- A cross marked with “faith, hope and love”
The imagery transforms what could have been merely a political or artistic statement into a direct confrontation with Christianity.
The Christian Post reported that Hobby Lobby did not respond to its request for comment.
The choice of Hobby Lobby is also significant.
The company became a national symbol of the religious-liberty debate after the Supreme Court’s 2014 Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision, which held that closely held corporations could receive protection under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act when owners objected to certain contraceptive requirements on religious grounds.
The Satanic Temple subsequently attempted to invoke the logic of religious liberty in challenges involving abortion restrictions and informed-consent requirements.
WHY THE SONG IS CALLED “SAM ALITO’S MOM”
The title is another deliberate political statement.
The song references Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, whose majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization helped overturn the federal constitutional framework established by Roe v. Wade.
The Satanic Temple has made abortion access a major part of its religious-liberty campaign.
The organization operates abortion-related programs and argues that its religious beliefs regarding bodily autonomy should receive legal protection. A federal appeals court summarized the Temple’s position as supporting abortion as an exercise of personal sovereignty and bodily autonomy.
The video therefore combines three targets:
Hobby Lobby.
Christianity.
Justice Samuel Alito.
It is culture-war activism expressed through music, religious symbolism and deliberate provocation.
THE SATANIC TEMPLE SAYS IT DOES NOT WORSHIP A LITERAL SATAN
There is an important distinction that should not be overlooked.
The Satanic Temple says it is nontheistic and does not believe in a literal supernatural Satan.
Its stated philosophy emphasizes personal autonomy, empathy, reason and opposition to what it regards as authoritarianism. The group says “Satan” functions as an allegorical symbol rather than a literal deity.
The Temple also claims more than 1.5 million members worldwide, although that figure is a claim made by the organization itself. A federal court opinion likewise records the organization’s claim of more than 1.5 million members.
But critics reject the Temple’s interpretation.
Former occultist and evangelist John Ramirez, who spent years involved in occult practices before becoming a Christian, told Fox News in 2023 that the Temple’s claim that it does not serve Satan was false.
“We make Sodom and Gomorrah look like kindergarten.”
Ramirez’s statements represent his religious perspective and personal testimony, not an independently established fact about the supernatural.
THIS IS MORE THAN A MUSIC VIDEO
The deeper issue is what happens when religious symbolism becomes a weapon in America’s culture war.
A Christian business is targeted.
A Christian bathroom becomes the setting for an intentionally provocative abortion ceremony.
Christian symbols are displayed.
Then those symbols are shown burning.
And the entire production is wrapped around a political attack on a Supreme Court justice.
The objective appears to be provocation.
And it raises a difficult question:
What happens to a society when sacred symbols are no longer merely debated, but intentionally desecrated for political and cultural impact?
America’s First Amendment protects freedom of religion and freedom of expression.
But constitutional freedom does not require Christians to pretend that every expression is morally neutral.
Something can be legally protected and still be deeply offensive.
A CULTURAL BATTLE OVER THE MEANING OF LIFE
At the center of this controversy is an even larger question:
Is human life sacred, or is human autonomy ultimate?
The Satanic Temple’s position places individual will at the center.
Christianity places God at the center.
That is not a minor philosophical disagreement.
It is a collision between two fundamentally different understandings of human existence.
Scripture declares:

The Bible’s understanding of human life begins with God—not human autonomy.
That is why abortion remains one of the most explosive moral questions in America.

The Satanic Temple explicitly places individual autonomy and personal sovereignty at the center of its philosophy.
Christianity teaches something radically different.
Jesus said:
“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” — Matthew 16:24
That is the collision.
Self versus surrender.
Autonomy versus God’s authority.
Human will versus the Creator’s will.
Christians should not respond with hatred toward individuals.
We should respond with truth.
We should pray for those who are trapped in deception.
And we should remember that spiritual darkness is not overcome by political anger, but by the light of Christ.
Jesus declared:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6
The culture may become darker.
But the Church is not called to hide.
It is called to stand watch.
