Bill Gates is sounding the alarm again. In a recent NBC interview, the Microsoft co-founder said AI is “powerful enough to drive events that cause a billion deaths,” while arguing that governments need stronger safeguards and monitoring.
That raises an obvious question: Why is one of the world’s most influential technology billionaires warning the public about the destructive potential of artificial intelligence?
From Software To Global Biotechnology
Gates began his career in software, but his influence eventually expanded dramatically into global health. The Gates Foundation has funded vaccine research, development and distribution and partnered with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. During the COVID-19 response, the foundation committed billions toward vaccines, diagnostics and treatments.
That history is important because mRNA vaccines use lipid nanoparticles—tiny lipid-based delivery vehicles that protect and transport mRNA into cells. The FDA and NIH describe LNP technology as an established platform for delivering RNA-based medicines.

That doesn’t prove a secret plan to upload human consciousness into a global “hivemind.”
But it does demonstrate that the once-fantastical idea of merging biological and digital systems is now part of serious technological discussion.

Daniel 2 describes the final kingdom as a mixture of “iron and clay.” Christians have interpreted that imagery in different ways, but the passage undeniably describes a strange combination that does not naturally hold together.
Could today’s convergence of human biology, artificial intelligence, digital identity and machine intelligence eventually become part of a much larger system of human control?
We cannot claim that prophecy has already been fulfilled.
But we can watch.
Revelation 13 describes an economic system capable of controlling who can buy and sell. Modern digital technology makes forms of large-scale identification and automated control technologically imaginable in a way previous generations could scarcely have conceived.
The technology is advancing.
The question is what humanity will ultimately do with it.
