BEIJING: Chinese authorities have reportedly detained pastors and church workers connected to Beijing Jiaquan Church, an independent house-church network that has operated in the capital for more than two decades. ChinaAid said firsthand reports indicate multiple detentions, but the exact number and charges were initially unclear.
A Growing Crackdown: Jiaquan reportedly serves more than 1,000 believers and has developed congregations and meeting locations beyond Beijing. The church is outside China’s state-approved Protestant system, the Three-Self Patriotic Movement.
