Former NASA astronaut Charles Duke, who walked on the Moon during Apollo 16 in 1972, has reignited debate by suggesting UFOs may be demonic deceptions rather than visitors from other worlds. His claims raise questions about faith, unexplained phenomena, and the limits of what humanity understands.
Duke’s Biblical Warning
Speaking to the Christian Broadcasting Network, Duke referenced 2 Corinthians 11:14, which warns that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. Duke believes some UFO encounters could mislead people and draw them away from Christianity. He also described praying for a sign before a friend unexpectedly raised the subject of UFOs the following morning. Duke interpreted that experience as confirmation of his beliefs.
However, his personal interpretation does not establish the origin of unexplained aerial phenomena.
Not All Christians Agree
Vice President JD Vance and commentator Tucker Carlson have publicly discussed possible spiritual explanations for UFOs. Their comments reflect growing interest in questions that cross the boundaries of religion, science, and unexplained experiences.
Other Christian voices urge caution. Father Lee Taylor, quoted by the Daily Mail, argues that the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence should not automatically be labeled demonic. He points to biblical passages describing creation and the vastness of God’s kingdom, suggesting that a larger universe would not diminish God’s greatness.

What Should Believers Consider?
Unidentified objects are not automatically extraterrestrial, supernatural, or evidence of deception. Their origins require evidence, while theological interpretations should be recognized as matters of belief rather than scientific findings.
The Prophetic Watch
Second Corinthians 11:14 warns Christians about deceptive appearances. Some believers apply this principle when evaluating extraordinary claims, but the Bible does not explicitly identify modern UFOs as demonic entities.
